About Speaker

Maxim Makatchev works in the area of conversational technology. He contributed to the development of multiple social robots that talk to users in public spaces of university campuses, such as the Roboceptionists Tank and Hala, and the scrabble-playing trash-talking Gamebot Victor. He also worked on Jibo, a commercial social robot. Eager to 100x his user base, he has recently been making skills for smart speakers.

Abstract

With the install base of more than 100 million units in the US and growing adoption in China, Japan and Korea, smart speakers pose both technical challenges and business opportunities for both manufacturers and third-party developers. In this talk he will give a top level overview of the smart speaker technology pipeline from both the manufacturer and developer point of view. He will also describe how smart speaker manufacturers and skill developers can generate revenue.
